Independent Softball Association (ISA) Winter Nationals
Dates: 1/16 – 1/17
Venue:Bartow 555 Softball Complex, Auburndale Softball Complex, and Diamondplex
- The ISA Winter Nationals event will bring 50 girls 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U softball teams will travel in from across the United States to compete in the first of 4 weeks of Winter National softball action.

USA Rugby Women’s National Team Training and World Cup Warm up match
Dates: 1/11 – 1/16
Venue:Tiger Town – Lakeland
- This USA Rugby event will be hosting an international rugby match, USA Eagles Women’s National Team vs. Rugby Canada Women’s National Team for a World Cup warm up match. These two National Teams will be training at Tiger Town in preparation for IRB Women’s World Cup 2010

Florida Paddle – canoe and kayak
Dates: 1/15 – 1/17
Venue: Ft. Meade, Peace river canoe trail
- Join Paddle Florida , January 15-18, 2010, for a three-day paddle along the Peace River Canoe Trail, part of Florida’s statewide trail system managed by the Florida Dept. of Environmental Protection Office of Greenways and Trails

Too Wintery for Winter Nationals

As we told you in this week’s edition of “This Week in Sports” the ISA Winter Nationals were set to kick off this weekend, the first of four consecutive weekends of competition, but even the Winter Nationals can only take so much of this cold weather. Due to the incoming weather for this weekend, the ISA Winter Nationals Girls Fastpitch 16U and 18U Tournament scheduled at the Bartow 555 Softball Complex has been postponed. The event will now be held next weekend, and combined with the ISA Winter Nationals Girls Fastpitch 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U Tournament on Jan. 16th-17th at the Bartow 555 Complex, the Diamondplex, and the Auburndale Softball Complex.

ISA Winter Nationals Highlight This Week in Sports

The ISA Winter Nationals will kick off four consecutive weekends of softball action in Polk County this weekend. The event will definitely live up to its name with chilly temperatures forecasted throughout this weekend. Here is a rundown of the sporting events that will be coming to Polk County this weekend:

Independent Softball Association (ISA) Winter Nationals
Dates: 1/9 – 1/10
Venue:Bartow 555 Softball Complex
- The ISA Winter Nationals event will bring softball teams from across the United States to compete in 4 consecutive weekends at Diamond Plex softball complex, Auburndale softball complex and 555 softball complex in Bartow, hosting 50 teams per week. Competing in the first week of this tournament will be girls fast pitch teams U16 – U18.

Lakeland Winter Sectional Tennis Tournament
Dates: 1/9 – 1/11
Venue:Beermen Tennis facility – 1000 E Edgewood Dr. Lakeland, FL 33803
- City of Lakeland Parks and Recreation will be hosting this sectional tennis tournament that will showcase over 100 top level tennis athletes.
