This was the 17th year for the race and it has become a tradition in Polk County. I can remember running in this event a long time ago when I was in 5th Grade. It used to be held at Lake Morton back in the day. The Drug Prevention Resource Center puts on the race and also features a Kids Health and Wellness Carnival during the event. This year, it all happened at George Jenkins High School in Lakeland. Registration was free for students in kindergarten through fifth grade in the one-mile fun run. Adults and students in grades six and above paid a $10 registration to complete in the Open Race. It is a lot of fun for a good cause.
