			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Polk County All Sports Awards continues its 11-year tradition of recognizing Polk County athletes for their excellence in sports at the Lakeland Center on Tuesday, June 21 at 6:15. Five new members will be honored for their achievements and will enter The Polk County Sports Hall of Fame.</p>
<p>The 2011 Hall of Fame class includes: former Florida Southern golfer and PGA Tour standout Marco Dawson; track and field superstar JJ Corbett ; water-skiing superstar Ricky Joe McCormick; and Florida Southern basketball legend Jerry Johnson. In addition to the four inductees from the world of sports, P. Scott Linder will be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a Community Contributor for his contributions to Polk County.</p>
<p> In addition to the All Sports Awards, the evening will also feature the induction of a new Polk County Sports Hall of Fame class. Ten awards will be given to athletes in specific categories such as Professional Athlete of the Year and Male and Female Team of the Year among many others. The winners are selected by the PCASA Selection Committee, made up of local business leaders and sports figures and will be announced later this month.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you were not able to attend the 2009 Polk County All Sports Awards, or if you would like to relive Polk County’s biggest sports celebration, the event will be televised on Bright House Sports Network this Sunday night at 7pm. Bright House Sports Network is Channel 47 on Bright House and can be seen throughout Central Florida. After Sunday, the awards will air on the following dates and times:</p>
<p> Tuesday, June 30 at 1:00pm</p>
<p>Saturday, July 4 at 4:00pm</p>
<p>Thursday, July 9 at 4:00pm</p>
<p> The 2009 Polk County All Sports Awards was great success with 540 people in attendance at The Lakeland Center. The evening featured the induction of five new members to the Polk County Sports Hall of Fame, including local golf great Bruce Scamehorn; football great Alvin Harper; water-skiing superstar Scott Clack; and golf great Dexter Daniels. In addition to the four inductees from the world of sports, Don Bridges was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a Community Contributor for his contributions to amateur sports in Polk County as Polk County Schools Athletic Director.</p>
