• Tickets to the Chili Throwdown are $10 and include free chili samples, free beer samples, live music and a ticket to the Flying Tigers game. Parking is free. Proceeds from the event will benefit Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE) and the senior population that VISTE serves in Lakeland, Bartow, Ft. Meade and Mulberry. Since 1983, VISTE volunteers have helped those 65 and older stay safe and independent in their own homes through a variety of services. VISTE is a United Way agency located in Lakeland, Florida and served 3,397 seniors just last year with hot meals, transportation, groceries, and minor home repairs.</p>

Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10am for all Detroit Tiger spring trainig games. Plan to get to the box office at Tigertown early&#8230;.and stay after you get your tickets, because the Tigers have a lot planned for fans on Saturday morning.</p>
<p>Fans will receive free popcorn, soda and coffee at the concession stands from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The Tigers will also be holding a special merchandise sale at the souvenir shop from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  All adult player name and number jerseys and t-shirts are buy one get one free.  Detroit Tiger fitted hats and batting practice hats are also buy one get one free.  Fans will also receive 50% off select merchandise.</p>
<p>The Tigers will begin the exhibition schedule on Tuesday, March 2 as the club battles Florida Southern College in the annual matchup against the Moccasins and the team opens the home portion of the Grapefruit League schedule against the Toronto Blue Jays at Joker Marchant Stadium on Thursday, March 4. The schedule is highlighted by visits from the World Series Champion New York Yankees on March 10, March 13 and March 27.  The schedule also features two visits from the National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies on March 12 and March 20.</p>
<p>Tickets for the 2010 spring exhibition season will be priced at two separate levels. The first set is for premium games, which include all games against the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees and all Friday, Saturday and Sunday games.  The second price level is for the remainder of the schedule.  Premium game ticket prices range from $11-22, while the ticket prices for the remainder of games range from $8-19.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;">The Lakeland Flying Tigers have announced their 2010 Florida State League (FSL) schedule. They are set to begin their 60th season in the FSL and 44th as a Detroit Tigers minor league affiliate.  Lakeland first began playing in the FSL in 1919. The Flying Tigers will open the season on the road Thursday, April 8 in Tampa to take on the FSL champion Yankees and home fans will get their first look at the team when the Flying Tigers host Tampa on Friday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Joker Marchant Stadium.  There will be special pre-game activities and ceremonies, BirdZerk, one of the widest and craziest shows in sports, will entertain fans during the game and there will be a spectacular post-game fireworks show.<br />
The schedule is highlighted with home games on the 4th of July, Armed Forces Day, and several education day games.  A full promotional calendar will be released at a later date. Season tickets will go on sale on January 18 and individual tickets will be on sale beginning Feb. 27. The Detroit Tigers just released their Spring Training schedule for 2010 as they begin their 74th season of Spring Training in Lakeland at Tigertown and their 45th consecutive season at Joker Marchant Stadium. Here is all the information:</p>
<blockquote><p>The Tigers will begin the exhibition schedule on Tuesday, March 2 as the club battles Florida Southern College in the annual matchup against the Moccasins. The club opens the home portion of the Grapefruit League schedule against the Toronto Blue Jays at Joker Marchant Stadium on Thursday, March 4. The schedule is highlighted by visits from the World Series Champion New York Yankees on March 10, March 13 and March 27. The schedule also features two visits from the National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies on March 12 and March 20. Tickets for the 2010 spring exhibition season will be priced at two separate levels. The first set is for premium games, which include all games against the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees and all Friday, Saturday and Sunday games. The second price level is for the remainder of the schedule. Premium game ticket prices range from $11-22, while the ticket prices for the remainder of games range from $8-19.<span id="more-502"></span></p>
<p>Full season ticket packages for the 2010 Tigers Spring Training exhibition season are on sale now at the Joker Marchant Stadium ticket office, via phone at (863) 686-8075 or by visiting <a href="http://www.tigers.com">www.tigers.com</a>. Fans may also now purchase partial season ticket plans of five-or-more games by calling (863) 686-8075. Individual game tickets go on sale beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9th, and can be ordered by visiting the ticket office at Joker Marchant Stadium, calling 866-66-TIGER or visiting <a href="http://www.tigers.com">www.tigers.com</a>. The Flying Tigers will be hosting a job fair from 6:00-8:30 pm in the concourse area of Joker Marchant Stadium as part of unemployment night. Entrance to the job fair and game are free with a resume.</p>
<p>Tuesday is also Baseball Wingo night sponsored by Natalie’s Sports Bar &amp; Grill. Fans can play baseball bingo during the game for a chance win prizes from the Flying Tigers and Natalie’s.</p>
<p><strong>Wednesday, September 2 vs. Daytona Cubs @ 7:00 p.m. (Gates open at 6:00 p.m.)<br />
</strong>Wednesday is All-You-Can-Eat Night sponsored by Miller’s Ale House of Lakeland. Tickets are just $10 and includes admission to the game and all-you-can-eat sliders, hot dogs, sausages, peanuts, popcorn, pretzels and chips as well as food from the Ale House from 6:00-9:00 p.m. or while supplies last.</p>
<p><strong>Thursday, September 3 vs. Daytona Cubs @ 7:00 p.m. (Gates open at 5:30 p.m.)<br />
</strong>The Flying Tigers will be hosting Freedom Walk 2009 at Marchant Stadium. The Flying Tigers will be honoring our local heroes who stand in the gap providing a safe America for all of us. Admission is free to all military, law enforcement, firefighter and EMT heroes and their families. Registration begins at 5:00 p.m. with the walk beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed by the game at 7:00 p.m.</p>
<p>Thursday is also Flying Tigers USO Night. Fans can enjoy $1 beers and sodas while the Flying Tigers will be celebrating USO night and the team will play in their special camo jerseys.</p>
<p><strong>Friday, September 4 vs. Dunedin Blue Jays @ 7:00 p.m. (Gates open at 6:00 p.m.)<br />
</strong>The first 500 paid adult fans will receive a Lakeland Flying Tigers “Ace” pin. Ace is the Flying Tigers team mascot. Kids eat free at all Friday home games as well. All kids 14 and under will receive a free hot dog, soda and bag of chips with paid admission.</p>

</strong>Following the game will be the final spectacular fireworks show of the season (weather permitting) sponsored by The Ledger.</p>
