2012 SSC Men’s & Women’s Tennis Championship
Dates: April 18 — April 21
Venue: Beerman Family Tennis Center – Lakeland
-This Sunshine State Athletic Conference event brings together 16 collegiate tennis teams (9 women’s teams and 7 men’s teams) from throughout the state of Florida for three days of championship competition and one practice day.

Area 6 Championship
Dates: April 19 — April 22
Venue: Universal Shooting Academy – Frostproof
-This regional championship is for qualifying shooters from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
-The event tests practical and action-pistol shooting. Top winners will progress to the USPSA National Championship.

10th Annual Lady Fire Shootout
Dates: April 20 — April 22
Venue: Lakeland
-Fire Youth Sports, Inc. presents the 10th Annual Lady Fire Shootout Classic held in the Lakeland area.

Winter Haven Stingrays-The Rowdy Cup
Dates: April 20 — April 22
Venue: Rowdy Gaines Center – Winter Haven
-The USA Sanctioned Swim Meet will be held at the Rowdy Gaines Center in Winter Haven.

2012 President’s Cup
Dates: April 21 — April 22
Venue: Lake Myrtle Sports Park – Auburndale
-Champions from each of the Region’s Division 1 Region Cups will be traveling to Lake Myrtle Sports Park to compete in the 2012 President’s Cup presented by the Florida Youth Soccer Association.

Bike MS: The Citrus Tour
Dates: April 21 — April 22
Venue: Bok Tower Gardens – Lake Wales
-The Bike for MS Citrus Tour is a two-day fundraising cycling event benefitting the National MS Society.
-Funds received are allocated towards local programs and services for those affected by multiple sclerosis and to support critical research for a cure.

Chain of Lakes Golf Splash
Date: POSTPONED UNTIL AUGUST 25
Venue: Begins and ends at Old Man Franks – Winter Haven
-Ridge Art Association presents the second annual Chain of Lakes Golf Splash.
-Modeled after the Conch Life Scramble in the Florida Keys, the Chain of Lakes Golf Splash is a nine-hole golf competition with boats replacing golf carts and holes located at various points on Winter Haven’s Chain of Lakes.

Child of the Sun Jazz Festival and Urban Triathlon
Date: April 21
Venue: Lake Mirror Promenade – Lakeland
-This two-part event is both a Jazz festival and a triathlon sponsored by the Lakeland Rotary Club.
-The Jazz festival will have fireworks, food and legendary Jazz.
-The triathlon consists of a quarter mile swim, a twelve mile bike ride, and a three and half mile run.

Youth April Triple Slam
Dates: April 21 — April 22
Venue: Bartow 555 Complex
- This is an ISA qualifying tournament expected to bring in over 300 softball players.

-This is the first major event which will kick off the collegiate sand-volleyball season. 
-Sand Volleyball is an NCAA emerging sport, and 2012 is the first full year of collegiate participation. 
-Colleges from all over Florida and the continental US will be in attendance, and six to ten college volleyball teams will be participating.

 Lakeland Parks & Recreation – Ledger Jr. Super Series
Dates: March 10 – March 12
Venue: Beermen Family Tennis Complex, Kelly Rec Complex, & Wood Lake Complex – Lakeland
-This is a Super Series Tournament where State Players as well as International Players will participate, and it will bring about 150 tennis players from across the state and nation.
-It is a U.S.T.A Florida Sanctioned and sponsored tournament.

 Lakeland Raiders vs. Rome Rampage

Venue: The Lakeland Center, Jenkins Arena
-The Raiders will play seven home games at The Lakeland Center.
-Kick-off for all home games will be 7:15pm.
-The Raiders will open their 2012 season with a home game on March 10th taking on The Rome Rampage, an expansion organization team from Georgia.

United Indoor Football League – Lakeland Raiders Fan Fest

-Come check out what all the excitement is about at the Lakeland Raiders Fan Fest.  The first 1,500 fans receive an inaugural season Raiders poster free!  There’s going to be a kids zone with games and face painting, giveaways all day long, fan contests, discounted ticket packages, drink and food specials, Raiders merchandise, meet and greet with Raiders players, drill demonstrations and much more.  

 Lakeland Parks and Recreation – Bayre Lay Memorial Jr. Championships
Dates: 2/11 – 2/12
Venue: Beerman Family Tennis Complex, Kelly Recreation Complex, & Woodlake Complex- Lakeland
-This is a U.S.T.A Florida sponsored and sanctioned Jr. Tournament. State and International players participate. 61 tennis players from out of county and 44 players from Polk County are expected to participate. 140 out of county spectators and 150 Polk County spectators are expected to attend. Estimated economic impact for this event is $65,000.

 Florida ISA – Sweethearts Ball & Super Saturday

Venue:  Bartow Softball Complex
-This is an ISA men’s and youth qualifying tournament that is expected to bring in 150 adult participants, 300 youth participants, and 210 spectators.  This event has an estimated economic impact of $200,000.

 CFDDC- AWI Qualifier – Dog & Disc Challenge
Dates: 2/11 – 2/12
Venue: Lake Myrtle Sports Park – Auburndale
-This Central Florida Dog and Disc Club event will bring in over 60 human participants, 120 canine participants and more than 100 spectators to Polk County.  Estimated economic impact for this event is $55,000.

The entry fee is $10 for the first event and $3 for each additional event up to a maximum of $28.  Bowling, Golf, Shooting and team sports have additional fees. All participants receive a T-shirt and are invited to a free Closing Ceremony at The Lakeland Center, which includes special awards, mini-health fair, goody bags, door prizes, andentertainment.

Race for the Kids Foundation Worlds 2010 Hydroplane Boat Races

Venue: Lake Alfred – Lake Alfred
- Race for the Kids Foundation’s Worlds 2010 Hydroplane Boat Races. Race fans mark your calendars for the most exciting action packed thrills and spills coming to Central Florida. Over 200 racers from Asia, Europe as well as the USA compete for this world title in a seven class four-heat, three day format. On Thursday the boat racers will be testing and qualifying all day. Friday will be the conclusion to the qualifying and the much anticipated Kids-Pro Race for the 11-17 year olds. Sat & Sun the Pros will race all day at speeds of over 120 mph. Also included; entertainment, food vendors, boat show, raffles. Event proceeds to benefit multi East Polk charities such as the Boy Scouts, City Little Leagues, Sunshine Foundation Dream Village, Lions Club, Humane Society of Polk County, and Keep Polk County Clean & Beautiful.
