Detroit Tigers to Host Annual Fantasy Camp Game on Saturday at Joker Marchant Stadium

Baseball in January? Yes, for a group of lucky Detroit Tigers Fantasy Camp participants, past Tigers players, and local fans. The Detroit Tigers will host their annual fantasy camp game tomorrow, January 21st, at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland. The game begins at 10:00 a.m. and admission is free, but a suggested donation of $2.00 will be collected for the Detroit Tigers Foundation of Florida, which benefits local youth sports organizations and local charities.

The fantasy camp participants have been in town since Sunday, participating in clinics, batting practices and games. After spending the week training alongside Tigers greats, the campers will have the opportunity to showcase their talent and passion for the game on the field. Participants scheduled to appear include: Willie Horton, Alan Trammell, Mickey Lolich, Frank Tanana, Larry Herndon, Jon Warden, Jim Price and more.

The Tigers will begin their exhibition schedule on Friday, March 2nd as the club plays host to Florida Southern College in the annual matchup against the Moccasins. Detroit Tigers Spring Training games are currently on sale. RussMatt Baseball Returns to Polk County in February

For the 4th straight year, Russmatt Baseball will be hosting their annual Central Florida Invitational right here in Polk County. Collegiate baseball teams from the around the coast will all gather over a six week period for spring training and game competition. Starting on February 18th, over 200 teams from all different divisions (NCAA D I, II, III, NAIA and JUCO) will begin to pour into all parts of the county to begin their preparation.

Some of the top teams venturing out to our region will be Northwestern, Navy, Georgetown, Army, Yale and North Dakota State. This collegiate spring training is a time for major league scouting, practice, and preparation for what will be a tough season ahead. the Russmatt Baseball tournament is a great opportunity to grab family and friends, and scout out your favorite potential pros or just enjoy a great day of baseball.

Detroit Tigers Announce 2012 Spring Training Schedule

Next spring will mark the Tigers 76th season at TigerTown in Lakeland, extending the longest-standing relationship between a major league team and a current Spring Training host city. The 2012 spring season marks the club’s 47th consecutive season of exhibition play at Joker Marchant Stadium.

The Tigers will begin the exhibition schedule on Friday, March 2 as the club plays host to Florida Southern College in the annual matchup against the Moccasins. The club opens the home portion of the Grapefruit League schedule against the Atlanta Braves at Joker Marchant Stadium on Sunday, March 4.

The schedule is highlighted by a visit from the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals on March 17 and a visit from the American League East Champion New York Yankees on March 24. The schedule also features two visits from the National League East Champion Philadelphia Phillies on March 9 and March 25.

Tickets for the 2011 spring exhibition season will be priced at three separate levels, which include Navy, Orange and White levels. Navy level games on March 4, March 9, March 17, March 21, March 24 and March 25 range from $14-28. Orange level games on March 7, March 10, March 14, March 20, March 26 and March 29 range from $12-25. White level games on March 2, March 5, March 12, March 15, April 1 and April 2 range from $9-22.

Full season, and five-or-more, ticket packages for the 2012 Tigers Spring Training exhibition season are on sale now at the Joker Marchant Stadium ticket office, via phone at (863) 686-8075 or by visiting www.tigers.com.

Historic Lake Wales Society – Pioneer Days Festival
Dates: 10/28 – 10/30
Venue: Shores of Lake Wales, Depot Museum, CSX Historic Corridor
-Pioneer Days is a festival that celebrates the founding of Lake Wales and its Pioneers.
-Activities include crafters, demonstrators, re-enactors, an Antique Car Parade, a free architectural carriage tour, entertainment and much more. The Pioneer of the Year will be announced Saturday Oct 29 at 10am during Pioneer Hour. A tribute to all Lake Wales Pioneers will also be included.
