Polk County Sports Hall of Fame Museum Unveiled at Lake Myrtle Sports Park

Polk County’s storied sports history was celebrated on August 25 with the grand opening of the new Polk County Sports Hall of Fame (PCSHOF) at the Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale. Thirteen esteemed members of the PCSHOF participated to officially unveil the new museum with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and reception. More than 100 people, including numerous Polk County dignitaries, attended the event to celebrate Polk County’s newest attraction.

Since it’s inception in 2000, the PCSHOF has inducted 83 star athletes from 12 different sports. The new museum features photos, videos, jerseys, equipment and just about every type of sports memorabilia that one could imagine. There’s even a scale model of the famed Miss Budweiser hydroplane racing boat. The opening of the museum brings to fruition more than a year’s worth of work and dedication by PCTSM staff, with Hank Longo and Mary Anne Roberts deserving of special recognition.

The museum is located at 2701 Lake Myrtle Park Road in Auburndale, Florida. You may visit the museum between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Tuesday – Friday. For more information, call 863-551-4750.
