What’s Happening in Polk County This Week

Take a look at the October 5 – October 14 events throughout Polk County, and feel free to share this list with other residents or visitors of the Central Florida area.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Canning 101 · Bartow
-Preserve jams and jellies for sale or sweeten your table.
-This class will teach you: How to can jams & jellies, how to use a boiling water bath canner, what can/cannot be altered in a recipe, what is allowed under the cottage food law.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Downtown Lakeland Food Truck Rally · Lakeland
-Tampa Bay Food Truck Rally is bringing food trucks to Munn Park.
-Come on out to Downtown Lakeland and enjoy a variety of Florida food trucks and their delicious cuisine!

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Fine Swine at the Pit · Mulberry
-Come get your butts smoked and share your ribs at the American Legion Mulberry Memorial Post #72.
-The Mulberry Fine Swine event is sanctioned by the Florida BBQ Association which showcases pro and backyard cook teams competing for cash prizes and trophies.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9 – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11
ACO Florida Major · The Lakeland Center
-The American Cornhole Organization presents the 2015 Florida Major.
-Established in 2005 the American Cornhole Organization, ACO, is the governing body for the sport of cornhole.
-Over 500 competitors along with the friends and families will be traveling to Lakeland for the Major. Winners of the Florida Major will advance to Nationals.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10
Tribal Extreme Mud Run · Mulberry
-Gear up for drudging through the mud, racing through gnarly terrain, and completing the most challenging obstacles in a 10K and 5K. 5K or 10K.
-This is a chip-timed event.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Fine Swine at the Pit · Mulberry

Gasparilla Invitational · Lakeland
-Lightning City Gymnastics is proud to present the Annual Gasparilla Invitational. Girls from ages 4 to 17 from across the state of Florida will be competing at the Lakeland Center.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10 – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11
Lake Region Fall Classic · Chain O’ Lakes Complex
-Lake Region High School presents the Lake Region Fall Classic, a 18-U and 16-U baseball tournament held at Lake Region High School and Chain O’ Lakes in Winter Haven.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10 – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11
Florida ISA Youth Halloween Havoc · Bartow Park/CR 555 Recreation Complex
-Florida Independent Softball Association (ISA) presents Youth Halloween Havoc in Bartow, a youth softball qualifying tournament that expects to bring over 600 participants and spectators to Polk County.
-All competition venues include parking, seating, and concessions available to spectators.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10 – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11

-Florida Independent Softball Association (ISA) presents Youth College Showcase in Bartow, a youth softball qualifying tournament that expects to bring over 600 participants and spectators to Polk County.
-All competition venues include parking, seating, and concessions available to spectators.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10 – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11
Florida ISA Adult Halloween Scream · Bartow Park/CR 555 Recreation Complex
-Florida Independent Softball Association (ISA) presents Adult Halloween Scream in Bartow, an adult softball qualifying
tournament that expects to bring over 375 participants and spectators to Polk County.
-All competition venues include parking, seating, and concessions available to spectators.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10 – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11

FYSA Olympic Development Program · Auburndale

-The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is an essential program inside of Florida Youth Soccer Association that is designed to identify national team players early at the youth level and to provide development opportunities for these potential national team players.
