What’s Happening in Polk County This Week

This Week’s Events

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Shine a Light 5K · Lakeland
-The Shine a Light 5k is an event hosted by Florida Baptist Children’s Homes (FBCH) designed to raise awareness and support for The Porch Light, an organization operated by FBCH that helps rescue and restore child victims of domestic sex trafficking.
-Awards will be given out in standard age divisions, and there will be food truck vendors for people to enjoy following the race.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
USYS Region III Premier League · Lake Myrtle Sports Park
-The US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Premier League (SRPL) provides an opportunity for the most competitive teams in Region III (South) to play each other on a scheduled basis.
-The league will be comprised of boys and girls in the age groups of Under-13 through Under-18.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 – SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
Central Florida Throwdown · SUN ’n FUN Complex
-CrossFit Fenrir presents the Central Florida Throwdown, a fitness competition held in Lakeland that tests cardiovascular endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, coordination and accuracy.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Tick Tock Ultra · Lakeland
-The Tick Tock Ultra is your 12-hour lake-lapping challenge. You will start at 7:00 a.m. traveling along a paved pathway that frames beautiful Lake Hollingsworth.
-Challenge yourself to log as many 2.84-mile laps as possible before the race concludes at 7:00 p.m.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Food Truck Wars · Winter Haven
-Food choices include everything from American, Peruvian and Mexican dishes to lobster and everything in between. -This year the theme is CORNy.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Lake Wales Car Show · Lake Wales
-Stroll and admire the cool antique, custom and classic cars of yesteryear while enjoying music, enchanting shops, and the unique restaurants of charming downtown Lake Wales.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 – SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
Teen Masters Bowling – Lake Wales Open · Kegal Training Center
-The Lake Wales Open is a 2-day event that will serve as one of four locations in the state of Florida with competitors trying to qualify for the National Teen Masters Championship in Las Vegas and a chance to win scholarships.
