Polk County is home to some of the top high school, collegiate, amateur and professional athletes in the world.  Home to more than 220 annual amateur sporting events, the Detroit Tigers and Lakeland Flying Tigers, the Florida Marine Raiders, and some of the top high school and collegiate athletic programs in the United States, there is never a shortage of talent on display throughout the year in Polk County sports.

Check out this Athlete Spotlight featuring George Jenkins High School star Hope Saunders.

As a senior at George Jenkins High School, Hope spoke to us about some of her goals for swimming and college. Hope is a member of the GJHS swim team’s girls relay team that went to the state championships last year and has already broken several city and county records this season.
