19th Annual Denis L. Fontaine Children’s Classic Golf Tournament
Date: Monday, October 22
Venue: Lone Palm Golf Club, Lakeland
– The 19th Annual Denis L. Fontaine Children’s Classic Golf Tournament will follow a four-person, best-ball scramble format and will benefit Explorations V Children’s Museum.

Monster Planes USA
Dates: Thursday, October 25 – Saturday, October 27
Venue: Lakeland Linder Airport
– This is a worldwide model aviation event presented by Frank Tiano Enterprises that hosts extra-large size radio controlled aircraft, some as large as 15 feet.
– This is the only event like it in the country, and it is expected to bring over 130 participants and 900 spectators to Polk County.

Paintball Sports Promotions World Cup
Thursday, October 25 – Sunday, October 28
Fantasy of Flight, Polk City
– Over 250 teams and countless dealers from around the world will be traveling to Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida for the 2012 World Cup of Paintball, the largest paintball event in the United States.
– Competitors from around the world will compete in this four-day event.

Joggin’ For the Noggin! 5k
Date: Friday, October 26
Polk State College, Lakeland
– The inaugural Joggin’ for the Noggin! 5k to benefit Polk State College Foundation promises to be a fun and scary Halloween themed race.
– This 3.1 mile race includes gravel road, grass and a trek on the Fort Fraser Trail. “
– This race will be chip timed, and awards will be presented to the top 3 in standard 5-year age groups, overall male and female, masters and grand masters.
– Runners are encouraged to wear costumes.

Monster Match
Friday, October 26 – Sunday, October 28
Venue: Universal Shooting Academy, Frostproof
– This is a shooting event held at the Universal Shooting Academy,  and the event will be shot in a one day format.
– Main competitors will shoot Saturday OR Sunday with limited competitor slots available on Friday with the staff, and a monster theme will be incorporated with emphasis on making it through the day with yourself and your equipment as well as the raw round count of the match.

Pioneer Days Festival
Friday, October 26 – Sunday, October 28
Venue: Lake Wales
– Activities include crafters, demonstrators, re-enactors, an Antique Car Parade, a free architectural carriage tour, entertainment and much more.
– The Pioneer of the Year will be announced Saturday, October 26 at 10:00 a.m. during Pioneer Hour.

Florida ISA Are You Scared Yet
Saturday, October 27 – Sunday, October 28
Venue: Bartow 555 Softball Complex
– Florida Independent Softball Association (Florida ISA) presents “Are You Scared Yet”, a youth softball tournament in Bartow.

Florida ISA Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament
Saturday, October 27 – Sunday, October 28
Venue: Auburndale Softball Complex
– Florida Independent Softball Association (Florida ISA) presents the Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament, an adult softball tournament in Auburndale.

WABA High School Team Showcase
Saturday, October 27 – Sunday, October 28
Lake Myrtle Sports Park, Auburndale
– Both Varsity and Junior Varsity Teams from around Florida will travel to Lake Myrtle Sports Park over the weekend to compete in the World Amateur Baseball Association’s High School Team Showcase.
