A Golf Tournament Like No Other
Posted on August 24th, 2012 by Rebecca Thompson
The Ridge Art Association presents the 2nd annual Chain of Lakes Golf Splash this Saturday, August 25, 2012 (originally scheduled for April 21, 2012). The event will begin at 8:00 a.m and last until approximately noon. This nine-hole golf competition will feature boats instead of golf carts and will have holes located at various points on Winter Haven’s Chain of Lakes. Instead of real golf balls, there will be biodegradable balls containing fish food that will be released after 96 hours. Each team will have four players along with a designated boat driver, and each player will get two shots at a floating target located at varying distances from each tee. The tournament will begin with registration at Old Man Franks in Winter Haven and will end back at Old Man Franks with lunch and awards.
A pre-event party will be hosted at 6:00 p.m. on Friday August 24, 2012 at the home of Zack and Nikki Morgan on Lake Eloise. Individual tickets will cost $25.00, and event proceeds will allow the Ridge Art Association to continue their efforts to complete the move to their new downtown Winter Haven location. The Ridge Art Association is the area’s oldest art organization and provides exhibits and programs, and contributes to the growth of our local cultural community. You do not need to be part of the event to enjoy an evening with friends at the pre-party. $25 per person includes food, cash bar, entertainment by Band Haven, practice shots for the event, a silent auction and a raffle. Please contact Events by Karen for tickets by phone: 677-5881 or email.
Come out, and help keep the arts and cultural community alive, here, in Polk County. This is a great way to relax and help out an important part of the local community!
