Tuesday, July 3
Rock N’ Freedom Fest 2012
Winter Haven; 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Join the City of Winter Haven for a fun-filled family event on the south lawn of Lake Silver, at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park including live music by “Band Haven”, children’s activities, a water ski show by the Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team, Inc. and a firework display by Zambelli Fireworks at 9:15 p.m.
Wednesday, July 4
Red Brick & Boom
Legoland-Florida– Winter Haven
Celebrate the 4th of July with a bang at LEGOLAND Florida’s first Independence Day event – Red, Brick & Boom. With special 3D glasses that turn ordinary fireworks into millions of exploding bricks, this July 4th celebration is sure to dazzle and delight.

Guest carillonneur Lee Cobb will perform carillon concerts at 1 and 3 p.m. and the Singing Tower will ring 13 times at 2 p.m., simultaneously joining other carillons, courthouses, city halls and church bells across America, including the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Lake Wales Arts Council’s 1st Annual 4th of July Bike Parade
Lake Wales Art Center; 9-11:45 a.m.
The Lake Wales Arts Council will host an artistic parade on the shores of Lake Wailes lake. The Arts Council will provide art supplies and instruction for children to decorate their bikes, trikes, wagons and scooters. Parents are encouraged to decorate their baby buggies. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. and go from the basketball court to the boat ramp and back. The Lake Wales YMCA will sponsor kids’ activities during the event. Participants can register at 9:00 a.m. near the basketball court.
Eagle Ridge Mall– Lake Wales; 12-9:30 p.m.
In partnership with the Eagle Ridge Mall, the City of Lake Wales is co-sponsoring an Independence Day Celebration at the Eagle Ridge Mall near the Food court entrance with music provided by Parties by Robert. There will be games, bounce houses and various children’s activities. Kings Burgers and BBQ, one of the mall’s restaurants, will serve hot dogs, burgers and BBQ, and there will be various other food and craft vendors. Shops at the mall will be open. Live music will begin at 6:00 p.m. with local country music artist Michael Ray, and Aaron Tippin, a nationally known country music star, will perform at 7:45 p.m. The fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m.
Thunder on the Ridge
Lake Eva Park- Haines City; 12-10 p.m.
Come out and enjoy the largest fireworks display in Polk County. There will be plenty of arts, crafts, food vendors and childrens activities on site. Then at 7:00 p.m. John Michael Montgomery will be performing live in concert.
Bartow 4th of July
Bartow Civic Center; 2:30-9:30 p.m.
Stop by the Bartow Civic Center and Mosiac Park, located next to the Civic Center, on the fourth for live entertainment and fireworks along with a carnival, children’s activities and food throughout the day. Fireworks take place at 9:30 p.m.
4th of July Independence Celebration
Joker Marchant Stadium– Lakeland; 5:00-11 p.m.
The Flying Tigers will take on the Clearwater Threshers in a Florida State League north-division match-up. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., and the gates to Marchant Stadium will open at 4:00 p.m. During the game, the Flying Tigers will have holiday picnic themed games, contests, music and fun. The team will be wearing special patriotic red, white and blue jerseys. There will also be live music and entertainment following the game by the Sofa Kings, and a special parachute demo by the USSOCOM Parachute Demonstration Team.
The dueling fireworks spectacular will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m. There will be two amazing fireworks displays skyrocketing at the same time choreographed to patriotic music. The shows are sponsored by The City of Lakeland, Lakeland Electric and The Ledger Media Group and will be displayed by Bell’s Fireworks Display Company.
