Start Training Now for 2010 Polk Senior Games

It is never too early to start planning to participate in the Polk Senior Games. The Games just released their registration information and participants can begin registering in January. More than 2,500 men and women, 50 and over, are expected to participate in 82 Olympic-style events including: Badminton, Basketball Shooting and 3 on 3, Billiards, Bocce, Bowling, Bridge, Checkers, Chess (NEW), Cribbage, Ballroom & Social Dancing, Square Dancing, Darts, Euchre, Field Events, Fishing, Golf 18 Hole and Putt & Chip, Horseshoes, Lawn Bowling, Pepper, Pickleball, Powerlifting, Punt Pass & Kick, Racquetball, 5K Road Race, Scrabble, Senior Smarts, Shuffleboard, Softball, Swimming,
Table Tennis, Tennis, Track, Trap Shooting, and Walking.
Required pre-registration begins January 1, 2010. The deadline to enter is Friday, February 12 for the games that run from February 27 through March 10.
The entry fee is $10 for the first event and $3 for each additional event up to a maximum of $28. Bowling, Golf, Shooting and team sports have additional fees. All participants receive a T-shirt and are invited to a free Closing Ceremony at The Lakeland Center, which includes special awards, mini-health fair, goody bags, door prizes, and entertainment.
