Do you usually go out to eat and find teams filling up restaurants or see sports event participants walking down major streets near hotels? If so, this new weekly feature on CCF should help you identify why. Since we do host more than 200 sporting events a year here, we understand how it could get confusing. Check here every week to find out what events are going on around Polk County the following weekend. Without further adeiu, here is your first volume of This Week in Sports (TWIS):
Sunshine State Games
Dates: 6/12 – 6/14
Venue: Polk County Facilities, local High Schools and Rec centers
The Sunshine State Games will host 20 different sporting events and will bring 3,000 athletes into Polk County for the days of games.

Florida State Tournament USSSA-Basketball
Dates: 6/12 – 6/14
Venue: Lakeland Area Gyms (Recreational and High School)
The USSSA Florida State Tournament will bring into Polk County an expected 140 teams from across the state with an estimated fan base of about 20-25 fans per team.

World Amateur Baseball Association (WABA) John Marotti Baseball Invitational
Date: 6/12 – 6/14
Venue: Chain of Lakes Complex
The John Marotti Invitational will bring 30 teams along with fans and family for the three day baseball tournament.

ISA Best of the Best
Dates: 6/13 – 6/14
Venue: Bartow 555 softball complex
The Best of the Best ISA event will bring 40 youth Fast-Pitch softball teams to Polk County hosting approximately 500 athletes and upwards of 600 spectators.
