For three years now, the Central Florida Junior Golf Tour has been helping the young Tiger Woods and Lorena Ochoa’s of Central Florida improve their game and the 2009 season is already underway. The tour is for boys and girls ages 8-18 and is designed to help prepare young golfers for tournament play by teaching them golf tournament etiquette and giving them more experience learing the rules of the game in a competitive setting. The season got underway on May 2 with a tournament at the YMCA Par 3 in Lakeland and will continue through the middle of September when the Tournament of Champions is held September 12-13 at Southern Dunes.

Tour membership is only $30 per year and each tournament costs $30 if it is a one-day event and $60 for a two-day event. The age groups are: Boys (8-10, 11-12, 13-15, 16-18) – Girls (8-10, 11-12, 13-18).

The 2009 Schedule: May 2 – YMCA Par 3, Lakeland; May 16 – River Greens, Avon Park; June 8 – Providence (Davenport); June 15 – Grasslands; June 27-28 – Bartow Golf Course; July 11 – Summerfield Crossings (Riverview); July 18 – Ritz-Carlton/Grande Lakes (Orlando); July 27 – Lone Palm; Aug. 15 – The Club at Eaglebrooke; Aug. 30 – ChampionsGate National Course; Sept. 12-13 – Tournament of Champions, Southern Dunes.

Get your young Tiger or Lorena involved now by joining this great tour–or just go out to one of the tour stops and watch these kids play–they are good!
